i was talking with a good friend recently and somehow we got on the topic of how it was so easy to get caught up in the world and the endless things it offers and how when we do this, we let God get pushed aside.
so.
we have two cups,
one cup is worn out from constant use, i suppose it could be considered our favorite cup. we fill this one with our love for things of the world. beautiful things, cool gadgets, money, cars, fame. the only problem is, this cup has a hole at the bottom. and try as much as we want, it cant and wont be filled. yet we persevere. 3g, 4g, 5g, 12398g. trentas. supersizing. sequels and prequels. we just cant get enough. so we keep throwing things into our leaky cup, stubbornly hoping that everything can be saved so we can drink from it and be satisfied. but our cup wont fill and we wont be satisfied.
now the other cup? it's flawless. beautiful and pure.. but dusty from being neglected. it's always full and no matter how much we drink from it, it never runs out. this cup is full of God's love. abundant and everlasting but sitting off to the side, overlooked in the shadow of the glamor and appeal of the first cup.
also, what's amazing about this cup, besides that it never empties, is that it can overflow. when we are willing to fill this cup with our lives, the things inside simply spill over. and when that happens, it has the potential to reach other people's lives and touch them with the wonder of God's love.
so why don't we fill the other cup?
